Team Up With GlobalGiving for Girls' Education

A RAIN mentor stands with her student

Team up with GlobalGiving to support RAIN’s work for girls’ education in Niger, and you may win JetBlue tickets, a flip cam, or a Nike messenger bag!

It’s easy: decide your goal amount, fundraise with friends and family throughout September, and make the dream of opportunity for girls in rural Niger possible! Prizes will be awarded to the top three fundraisers, and your hard work can have an even greater impact: GlobalGiving is also offering $3,500 in awards to the organizations with the most successful fundraisers.

Help us give Nigerien girls a future by supporting important initiatives such as our mentoring program - keeping at-risk girls in school instead of an early marriage, or our learning center - a place for nomadic students to live and attend middle school. Visit our mentoring and learning center projects on GlobalGiving.org.

Our total goal in this month-long campaign is to raise $5,000.

  • A donation of $50 supplies books for 30 students.
  • $100 supports one student and her mentor for one year.
  • $1000 supports a student for one year in a learning center.

The goal you set for your fundraiser is up to you!

To say thank you, GlobalGiving will be giving away two JetBlue tickets to the fundraiser who raises the most funds and secures at least 10 unique donors during the month of September. This is a fun way to share your passion with others and multiply your impact for girls in Niger.

Below is a draft letter you can use to begin recruiting your team.

Thank you as always for your support and friendship!

All the best,
Your Friends at RAIN

Dear ,

You may know that I've been involved with Rain for the Sahel and Sahara (RAIN), an NGO partnering with the underserved desert people of West Africa, with a focus on girls and women. RAIN's work is important to me because [insert why you believe in our work].

Now, I'm asking you for a little bit of help. I have set up a fundraiser to spread the word and raise funds so that rural at-risk girls in Niger have a chance for an education. I have set a personal goal of raising [insert dollar amount]. Will you help me reach my goal?

To join me in my goal to support RAIN's programs for girls in Niger:

  1. Go to [insert fundraiser page]
  2. Pick your funding amount
  3. Click the orange Donate button
  4. Proceed to check-out
  5. Now, pat yourself on the back, you just did something earth-changing!

Thank you so much for your support, it means a lot to me and to the girls who dare to believe in themselves.

Warm Wishes,

“Sahel” comes from the Arabic word meaning shore -- the coast between the sands of the vast Sahara desert and the wetter savannah lands to its south.
